What You Should Know about South Carolina DMV Tests
The real South Carolina DMV test has 30 questions on road signs, signals, markings, safe driving techniques and South Carolina traffic laws.
The passing score is 80%, which means you must answer at least 24 questions correctly.
You will find all answers to the test questions in the SCDMV driver’s manual. Make sure you get a copy from a local DMV office or download the PDF-version online.
After applying for your first South Carolina driver’s license and passing the DMV test, SCDMV issues a beginner’s permit. You must hold this permit for more than 180 days before taking the behind-the-wheel test.
If you are 15 or 16 years, you must also:
- Complete a driver’s education course (eight hours in the classroom and six hours driving).
- Be enrolled in school.
- Practice driving for at least 40 hours, including 10 hours of night driving.
You will earn full driving privileges at 17, or after keeping your conditional or special restricted license for one year.
